Check Out This New Outdoor Hospitality Retreat Opening Along California’s Central Coast This Summer
Opening in summer 2026, Nightsky Camps is a new design-forward outdoor hospitality retreat coming to California’s Central Coast. Located just outside downtown San Luis Obispo along the Highway 1 corridor, the property aims to deliver a low-impact, immersive lodging experience that blends thoughtful design, wellness, and outdoor recreation.
A New Kind Of Central Coast Retreat
According to Time Out Los Angeles, Nightsky Camps replaces the traditional hotel experience with custom-designed eco-tents situated between the California coastline and the Nine Sisters mountain range. The 45-key property features timber-paneled accommodations with private decks and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
The retreat was developed in-house by founders Anatoly Mezhov, Irene Polo, and David Smith, who designed the modular canvas structures with a focus on minimal excavation and preserving the natural Dairy Creek environment.
Located Within Dairy Creek
Nightsky Camps is situated within the larger Dairy Creek Golf Course campus, a county-owned outdoor recreation destination that also includes a nine-hole golf course, a TopTracer-equipped driving range, and the nearby San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden.
The project is designed to complement the existing landscape and amenities already enjoyed by both locals and visitors to the region.
Wellness, Community & Outdoor Experiences
Time Out highlights Nightsky’s emphasis on communal gathering spaces and wellness-focused programming. The property’s “Camp Commons” area will feature fire pits, open-air lounges, and shared gathering areas intended to encourage connection and relaxation.
A dedicated wellness zone will include:
- Yoga and guided meditation
- A movement pavilion
- Sauna and cold plunges
- Outdoor wellness experiences
Additional programming is expected to feature outdoor dinners, live music, and film nights inspired by the rhythm and culture of California’s Central Coast.
A New Road Trip Destination From Los Angeles
The article positions Nightsky Camps as an appealing road trip destination for Southern California travelers seeking a slower-paced getaway without sacrificing thoughtful design, wellness experiences, and elevated hospitality.
Reservations have not officially opened yet, though guests can join the property’s “Stargazer” list for early access and updates ahead of its debut.
